7 hours 30 minutes (Approx.)

  • This is a typical itinerary for this product Stop At: Osaka Castle, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Kinki Of course you’re going to see Osaka Castle, arguably the most iconic spot of great historical significance in Osaka. We’ll traverse the grounds, all the while talking about the history, architecture, and significance of the spot. Since the rebuilt interior of the castle is rather disappointing, we recommend giving that a miss. Trust us.
  • Duration: 1 hour Stop At: Shitennoji, Tennoji, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Kinki This is said to be the oldest Buddhist temple in Japan, and the grounds make for a great place to stroll about. We’ll regale you with stories and lob you just enough info on the place to make it interesting without being tedious. Unless you like loads of info, because we have that too. It’s your private tour after all! 🙂
  • Duration: 45 minutes Stop At: Shinsekai, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Kinki Fun for all ages, in an odd sort of reality-independent way, this is a must-see while in Osaka. Games, food, fashion (perhaps heavily skewed toward the eye of the beholder), and that general, unmistakable Osaka vibe. No one forgets a visit to Shin-sekai.
  • Duration: 30 minutes Stop At: Abeno Harukas, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Kinki Lunch, and a trip up Harukas. We’ll have a lunch to your liking in the Tennoji area, which is also where the super tall building known as Harukas is. This being the tallest non-tower building in Japan (300m), there are views aplenty. (We in Osaka have heard there is some tower with a height of biblical proportions in Tokyo, but we’re not so interested.) We won’t go up to the top of Harukas, but we go high enough to enjoy a breathtaking view of Osaka, and on a good day, all the way to Kobe and more. Some local shopping is available here too, if you’re keen.
  • Duration: 1 hour 40 minutes Stop At: Kuromon Market, Nippombashi, Chuo, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Kinki A feast for the eyes, and for the stomach too, if you’re interested! Fish, meats, fruits, and a panoply of people all vie for your attention.
  • Duration: 25 minutes Stop At: Dotonbori, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Kinki We’ve got a little flexibility here, but we love showing people not only the internationally famous “Running Man” sign, but also some cool back streets, the kitchenware district, and some other sights based on your interests.

Day 07 . Private Car Tour: Arashiyama Kyoto  and Fushimi Inari from Osaka

Breakfast 8:30 am: Depart from your Osaka hotel in the morning, heading first to the outdoor area of Arashiyama. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Tenryuji Temple, and then take a bamboo forest stroll. Continue the day by wandering the grounds of Okochi Sanso estate. Start the afternoon with a walk through Arashiyama’s main thoroughfare before continuing on to a ‘revolving’ sushi restaurant for an included lunch. Proceed next to Fushimi Inari, a sacred complex known for its series of red gates that snake up the mountainside. Then head back to your hotel. For a full run-down of the trip itinerary, please see below.

8:30 am: Your knowledgeable and friendly guide will pick you up at your hotel in Osaka

10:00 am: Arrive at Arashiyama, get oriented. At the foot of the mountains above Kyoto, this district has both history and natural beauty in great abundance. We’ll park the car right in the center of town, then set about seeing the surrounding temples, scenery (including a walk along the river), and shops.

10:15 am: Visit Tenryuji (temple and gardens) Explore this World Heritage site, and also said to be the most important temple in the Arashiyama district of Kyoto. Delight at temple grounds, expansive Japanese style rooms, and exquisite gardens. Every season brings different highlights in the garden, as does every angle from which you view it.

11:15 am: Bamboo forest stroll Relax and enjoy the magic bamboo forest stroll. If time allows, ask your guide for another temple or park area that you are interested.

11:45 am: Okochi Sanso Relax in and stroll about this estate property now open to the public. You’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy Japanese tea and snacks (at your own expense), excellent views, as well as just a generally fantastic atmosphere.

12:30 pm: Arashiyama stroll See a bit more of the hillside, then descend to the river by way of a spacious park. From there, a five minute walk along the wide river brings us to the main shopping street. Poke about some of the stores if you’d like, or choose to move on to lunch.

1:15 pm: Transfer between Arashiyama and Fushimi Inari, with a sushi lunch along the way. At about the midway point of the drive between Arashiyama and Fushimi Inari, we’ll stop for lunch at a family friendly revolving sushi restaurant. Lunch is included in your tour price.

2:45 pm: Visit Fushimi Inari Fushimi Inari, a momentous installation of red gates the scale up the mountain. It take 2 hours to get to the top, so you’ll only go up partially, but back at the base. Be wowed by the temple structures and general ambiance.

4:00 pm: Transfer to your hotel in Osaka
